Griffiths

The Griffiths family was not unique in the Lucas
Empire; there were a lot of families that had 3 or 4
generations that had worked for Lucas
This was the begining of 4 genarations of the
Griffiths Family

Frederick William Griffiths
42 years service

Frederick  joined Joseph Lucas as an Iron Turner
( Toolmaker ) in 1895. and is believed to have started
at Little King Street    More Details

Frederick W Griffiths and Alice his sister

Frederick Married Martha Sessions in 1992, and went
on to have 11 children, 5 sons and 6 daughters.
Unfortunately Martha died in 1917 at the age of 45;
Fredrick remained a widower until his death

Son
38 years Service

George although born close to the Lucas site did not
Join the company until after his Army Service in the
Great War 1914-18
From early days his expertise was  in Sheet Metal Work
 and he soon moved into the Experimental Dept ( C6 )

Norman  Geoffrey Griffiths
Grandson
10 years Service

Norman, George's son  joined Joseph Lucas in the
Laboratories F6 in 1943 and left after 10 years to
become Chief Metallurgist with Bristol-Siddeley

40 years service

Sid joined Lucas in 1923 as a Toolmaker, working on the
Turning section in H4 Toolroom, He finely setted on the
